DIY GIFT WRAP | GINGERBREAD TAGS

When we think of Christmas, we think of gingerbread houses and cookies. Bake and frost your own version of gingerbread cookies this year with this quick and easy tutorial for gift tags.

That's right, these adorable gingerbread tags are made out of paper and require a short list of supplies. To start, cut different shapes from a kraft colored cardstock. We used the Silhouette Cameo and cut various holiday themed images from their design store. The Paper Cut's Fossil cardstock is our go-to kraft color.
Next we got out our favorite ink - Distress Ink in Tea Dye. This color has been in our stash for... forever. It's a great shade for adding just a touch of vintage or shading to cards and die cuts. We pulled it out and added it to the edges of our paper pieces, adding just a little bit more to various spots. This really transforms the paper into a baked cookie!

If you're new to Distress Inks, don't be afraid! Grab an ink pad, foam applicator, and a craft sheet. Tap the foam applicator directly onto the ink pad to pick up color. Start off the paper and use a circular motion to transfer the ink. Go ahead and build layers by adding more of the same or a different color ink. Along with water and dye, Distress Inks have a resin that makes them perfect for blending.

Now it's time to decorate the tags. The Uni-ball Signo pen writes smooth and shows up bold and crisp on dark cardstock colors. We used it to create doodles on each piece. It may look intimidating, but the designs were made with simple lines and dots.

Use a hole punch and baker's twine to attach the tags to gifts, banners, and more. Just make sure no one mistakes them for real cookies!

LETTERS TO SANTA | EASY DIY IDEAS TO COMPLETE THIS CHRISTMAS

Christmas is less than a month away. While we may not be ready, the kids sure are! Have your children started browsing the holiday catalogs and making their wish lists? We're here to share an easy activity to complete: Letters to Santa

Many of our DIY tutorials have lots of steps and require a collection of supplies, but not today! Create a letter writing kit for each child with just a few items. We included a clipboard, white paper, a pencil, and an envelope. In the center of the table we had markers, crayons, and glitter glue for everyone to decorate their letter before writing. You could decorate the letters ahead of time or let the kids get creative. Let's take a look at a few backgrounds you all could create.
SQUARE FRAME | Holly, ornaments, and snowmen are easy images to create. Draw an a Christmas themed item in one or two corners of the paper. Use a marker to quickly outline the border of the page. We added a little glitter glue to make the holly berries sparkle.

SCALLOPED BORDER | Turn the bottom or top of the page into a work of art with doodled borders. Create scallops, Christmas garland, or snowballs.

SANTA HAT | Draw a hat or beard with markers. We added just a sparkle of glitter glue inside the pom pom. To transform it into a letter, add lines inside the image. The base of the hat is left empty for the child's name or a drawing.

FILL IN THE BLANKS | Create a template for your children to fill in. We added four things that they could ask for, including something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read. We left a space for drawings or additional wishes. There's even a frame each child can draw a photo of themselves.

Once completed, slip your letters into a fancy envelope to send to Santa. We added two googly eyes and shapes cut on the Silhouette Cameo to create a reindeer.

Of course, we all love happy mail. To make sure Santa receives your letter - and to get a reply - follow these directions from the US Post Office. As a reminder, make sure to send off your letters by December 15th to hear back from the North Pole.
